The CMA (India) course is aimed at students who wish to pursue in the area of cost management and accounting. The CMA course is divided into three - CMA Foundation, CMA Intermediate and CMA Final.


The CMA Intermediate is the second level of exam for the CMA course. The exams are normally conducted twice a year (June & December). Students have to clear the CMA foundation paper before appearing for this exam.


The course consists of 2 groups of 4 papers each -

Paper 5 - Financial Accounting

Paper 6 - Laws, Ethics and Governance

Paper 7 - Direct Taxation

Paper 8 - Cost Accounting and Financial Management


CWA Inter Stage - II


Paper 9 - Operation Management Information System

Paper 10 - Cost and Management Accounting

Paper 11 - Indirect Taxation

Paper 12 - Company Accounts and Audit

In order to be eligible to appear for the CMA (India) Intermediate exam, a candidate must meet the following criteria.

  • Passed the class 12 exams by a recognised Educational Board
  • Cleared the Foundation course offered the ICAI.

Cost accountants have great career prospects in both private and government sectors as well as other sectors such as banking, finance, educational, training and research in roles like Chairman cum Managing Directors, Managing Director, Finance Director, Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer, Cost Controller, Marketing Manager and Chief Internal Auditor and other important positions. Cost accountants also have the option of setting up their own private practice by obtaining a private practice certificate from the Institute.
