The CMA course is divided into three exam part - CMA Foundation, CMA Intermediate and CMA final.

Students also have the provision to do their CMA programme along with B.Com. The B.Com degree will be awarded by a UGC affiliated University.

CMA Foundation course
The CMA foundation paper is the entry level paper for the CMA course. In addition to learning about core management, strategy and accounting it also bring focus on the regulatory aspects. The examination is pen and paper based which tests the conceptual clarity on each subject.

The test consists of four papers

Paper 1 - Fundamentals of Economics and Management

Paper 2 - Fundamentals of Accounting

Paper 3 - Fundamental of Laws and Ethics

Paper 4 - Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics

Entry requirements - Any student who has passed their higher secondary examination under the 10+2 format can appear for the CMA foundation exam.

CMA Intermediate course


CMA intermediate is the second level of examination for students who are pursuing the CMA certification. The examinations are conducted twice a year (June & December).

The course consists of 2 groups of 4 papers each -

Entry requirements-

· Students are required to have passed the CMA foundation paper before appearing for this exam.

· Graduation in any stream other than arts

· They must have completed communication and soft skills training

· They are also required to complete 100 hours of computer training

The course consists of two groups and is divided as follows -

Final Course, Group I -

Paper 13- Corporate Laws and Compliance

Paper 14- Advanced Financial Management

Paper 15- Business Strategy & Strategic Cost Management

Paper 16- Tax Management and Practice

 

Final Course, Group II -

Paper 17- Strategic Performance Management

Entry requirements-

· Qualify CMA India Intermediate examination (both groups)

· Complete Industry oriented training programme

· Complete prescribed practical training/ equivalent

Candidates who pass the CMA final examination are eligible to attain a Membership of ICAI. CMA Final students have to complete modular training for 15 days. And complete three years of practical training after the examinations to receive the membership. The necessary skills that are required for applying theoretical knowledge of subjects (cost and management accounting) in to practical situations, students must be attending practical training compulsorily. This applies in different fields of work.

CMA India course duration -
CMA India Foundation level is a 7 months course. To appear for CMA intermediate course (both group) you require 6-7 months of coaching. Then to appear for CMA Final course (both group) 9 months of coaching and training is required. Practical training of minimum 6 months is necessary to appear for Final which is included in the 9 months. The qualification has covered all the topics in detail that will broaden the students skills and they can use these skills to showcase their quality as a professional.

Exam pattern
There are three stages in Cost & Management Accountancy (CMA India) profession in India offered by ICAI. CMA IND examination is held twice in a year, June and December respectively. Students are required to register in ICAI's official website. The candidates are allowed to pay the fees through online mode and offline mode. Whether it is the oral mode of coaching or the postal mode, the fee structure remains same and doesn’t really change that much.

The CMA Foundation is a pen paper bases examination conducted in offline mode. Students who have passed the 12th exam are eligible to appear in CMA Foundation. Exam Duration is three hours and number of questions will be 100 Descriptive type questions. Candidates will be given three hours time to complete the CMA Ind Intermediate course exam and each paper will be of 100 marks. Mode of Examination: 60% objective, 40% subjective. The Final Examination will be conducted in Offline, descriptive (Pen & Paper) mode only. Each paper will be of 100 marks and for 3 hours duration. The last dates for registration generally fall at least four months prior to the month in which examination is held.

Students who appear for both Groups of Intermediate or Final Examination with or without any exemption-

Must obtain at least 40 percent marks in each paper appeared. They also should obtain at least 50 percent marks in aggregate, taking both the Groups together
They shall be then be declared to have qualified CMA IND Intermediate Course or Final Course, as the case may be.

Admission for the CMA India course is open throughout the year. But the students who wish to appear for June Term Examination should apply before 31st January of that year. And students who wish to appear for December Term Examination should apply before 31st July of that year. The timing for applying remains the same usually every year. However, Students are advised to check the update announcements on the website regularly.
